CAPRICE-TYPE CHASSIS

This '56 Chevy pickup is being used for the development of this kit. The stance on the stock (not-lowered) Caprice chassis will be as shown. (Note: The rear of the box will be lowered to make it level.) Production kits should be ready after June 15th, 2008

BASIC INFORMATION
ADVANTAGE: These cars are more plentiful than S-10's & are also reasonably priced. The factory Wheel Base (116" W.B.) & Track Width are ideal for this swap. They come equipped with V-8's & Overdrive transmissions, big disk brakes, quick-ratio power steering, front and rear sway bars, etc. The motor & transmission stay in the stock position.

Some minor body modifications will be required to fit over the wider Caprice frame. Special panels to modify the step area in the cab, & the step on the step-side type box will be included with the kit.

"DISADVANTAGE": The box floor will need to be raised about 5-1/2" to clear the tall kick-up over the rear axle. Note: The Chevy El Caminos were built on a similar chassis and used a shallow box floor. However, this will also allow the owner to build lockable storage compartments under the box floor.

In the future we will be offering a FULL - SIZED TRUCK CHASSIS kit for the '55-'59 bodies. These body-mounting kits will be for the '73-'87 full-sized Chevy pickup or Suburban chassis'.

We will NOT be developing an S-10 CHASSIS kit for the '55-'59's
